The current center is the result of many years of experience of the Centre for Studies on Drug Communications, it was initially directed by Rodolfo Paoletti, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy until 2005, and therefore Flavia Bruno was the director.
The initiative, if in 2000 was an original and innovative topic, now is an imperative need for a scientific department that deals with health, due to the progressive proliferation of media and their technology. The last Censis data provides a detailed picture of the percentage of users to empower their health knowledge. In particular the web surfing are the 42% of the total people searching information on health. The anonymity and spontaneity characteristic of social media, allows people different targets to express free opinions. It is therefore in place an online buzz about health, wellness, lifestyle, diseases, not always reliable diagnosis, but with a strong influence on behavior.
