Phone +3902/50318377Nathalie Sala is a PhD student at DiSFeB. Since 2014, she has been working in the lab of professor Popoli, studying the short- and long- term effects induced by acute stress on the glutamatergic system. During her PhD project she collaborated at developing a novel experimental paradigm to investigate the mechanisms underlying resilience/vulnerability towards acute stress, with the final aim of defining which are the factors that trigger the physiological stress response towards a maladaptive process, thus leading to increased risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders. The new model will be also used to study the mechanisms of action of ketamine, a fast-acting antidepressant.
Ashok Datusalia is a visiting scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Popoli studying how animals showing behavioral resilience or vulnerability to a traumatic acute stress, differ in term of neuronal function and molecular aspect in medial prefrontal cortex. The outcome of this study could be particularly relevant for pathophysiology of PTSD and depression, in which a single trauma may trigger psychopathology.
